October wrap up and **Book Giveaway**

finding-audrey

Wow October was a busy month. I’ve been super hectic with studying and work and have had family visiting too. To make up for being quieter than usual I’m running a giveaway to win Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella! See the Gleam mechanism at the end of the blog to enter :).

I’m a huge fan of Sophie Kinsella (author of the Shopaholic series, among many other books) and this is her first young adult novel.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

An anxiety disorder disrupts fourteen-year-old Audrey’s daily life. She has been making slow but steady progress with Dr. Sarah, but when Audrey meets Linus, her brother’s gaming teammate, she is energized. She connects with him. Audrey can talk through her fears with Linus in a way she’s never been able to do with anyone before. As their friendship deepens and her recovery gains momentum, a sweet romantic connection develops, one that helps not just Audrey but also her entire family.

October Wrap Up

I somehow still managed to read 5 books this month and they were all great! Click on the images for more detail on the books.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was a re-read for me as I bought the new illustrated version. It is b-e-a-utiful. I fell in love with the illustrated version of Philosopher’s Stone and I just need to get them all. Unfortunately the next one isn’t released for another year – so it’s going to be a long wait to get the full collection! But it is definitely worth it.

The inside of the illustrated edition of Chamber of Secrets is so beautiful! I wish I had the first one, tho, I wouldn’t even ask for the others in the illustrated editions, because they’re quite expensive, but maybe I’ll ask The Philosopher’s Stone for Christmas or my birthday.
Thanks for the giveaway, btw, I’ve been wanting to read a Sophie Kinsella book for a few months now, and this couldn’t come at a better time!

In October I read The Swimming pool, by Louise Candlish and Not Quite Nice, by Celia Imrie.

Very good they were too. Have just started reading ‘Moving’, by Jenny Éclair. Seems to be a very good story. I love reading.

My fave young adult read is ‘After the Frist Death’ by Robert Cormier. I read it myself as a young teenager and it had a huge impact, a definite move away from the often formulaic structure of a lot of books.
